Champion of Brazil Cup 2008
Last night Sport Club became the Brazil Cup Champion of 2008 after defeat Corinthians in the final. In the first game Sport Club lost 3 to 1, yesterday they won 2 to 0. Even though they scored the same after the two games, Sport Club was the champion because the goal outside is more valuable.
That is the second time Sport Club is the champion of a big competition, in 1987 it was the champion of Brazil Championship for clubs, although Flamengo still claims that they are the champion because Sport was from B Series.
On the way to the cup, Sport Club defeated big clubs like Palmeiras, Internacional and Vasco, who succumbed to the pressure of the stadium.
Corinthians, which hoped to become a champion for the third time of the tournament, now turn their attention to the Brazil Championship B series, which has always been the priority of the club in this season.
The next Sport Club match it will face Figueirense at Orlando Scarpelli stadium on June 10th. On Brazil Championship 2008 it occupies the 6th position tied with Atletico Paranaense.
