Since not everyone has money to buy video games, the best option today is to play online games. I have no idea how many hours I’ve spent playing online games myself. There are many flash games that are much better than games from consoles like Xbox or Playstation.

Today I will be interviewing Daniel McNeely, the CEO of Armor Games. Armor Games is one of the world’s leading Flash Games Portal. Besides flash games, Armor Games develop games to iphone and other mobile platforms.

Could you please introduce yourself and tell us about your background and hobbies?

My name is Daniel McNeely. I attended Biola University and have a degree in Marketing and a Minor in Bible. My hobbies include running, cycling, scuba diving, rock climbing, sky diving and video games.

Why did you decide to invest in the online gaming niche and create Armor Games?

I always loved gaming and it wasn’t until I got a job in online marketing that I realized you could make money from online advertising. I then combined the two and launched ‘Games of Gondor’ which was the precursor to ArmorGames.

How did you take Armor Games to the next level (going from publishing games from other portals to start sponsoring games)?

I learned in marketing that ‘Content is King’ and I wanted to be more than just another portal so I started partnering with developers to make unique games for our site.

How many people work for Armor Games ( In-house and freelance)? Do you plan on expanding the company?

We have 10 full time employees and another 30 developers we work with as free lance.

Is Armor Games planning on caring games for PC, mobile phones or consoles(xbox, playstation or Wii)?

Yes, we already have several releases on the iPhone and we plan to continue to expand this during 2012.

Have you thought about globalizing Armor Games in creating more websites or partnering with other portals?

Yes, but we haven’t had the man power or resources to localize our games to other countries yet.

Are you willing to offer your company to investors? If so, where would the money be best used?

Not yet, I’d prefer to keep the company private and decide how to grow instead of someone else telling us what to do.

How do you manage the massive traffic received by Armor Games? What time of the year Armor Games gets more traffic?

We have close to 20 servers that run our site and we have a full team of people dedicated to making sure ArmorGames stays live.

What features do you want to see in a game to consider it successful? Can you list some of the best games you’ve ever played?

Some of my favorite games include The Last Stand, Elephant Quest, Kingdom Rush, Siege Hero, Flight, Crush the Castle, Armor Mayhem and Shift.

Since a lot of people don’t have money to spend on video games, do you think this can be an advantage to online games?

Yes, people always enjoy free games.

Recently Adobe announced that they’ll stop working in a solution for iPhone and IPad since Apple don’t have the intention to support Flash. Do you think this can make people stop developing to Flash and develop exclusively to iOS?

Yes, we will plan accordingly and will adopt whatever platform we need to stay at the front of online gaming.

Anything else you would like to add?

I want to personally Thank all the gamers who visit ArmorGames and buy our iPhone titles. Without your support we wouldn’t be able to do what we love!

If you like to play online games and kill time, visit ArmorGames website to play the best games online!

According to research from UHY, network consultancy based in London, the number of startups in Brazil increased on average 7.2% per year between 2006 and 2010.
In a ranking of 19 countries where it operates consulting, Brazil is in fourth place behind Russia (annual increase of 25.6%), France (21.5%) and Estonia (9.1%).

More than 617 000 startups were registered in Brazil in 2010 from 467,000 four years earlier. The sectors where growth was higher, according to the study, were the services and family farming.
The worst results are with Spain in this period (down 14.6%), Ireland (-7.6%), United States (-6.7%) and Japan (-6.2%).
In Spain, for example, 76,622 companies were created in 2010 from 143,859 in 2006.

Among the countries surveyed are members of the four members of the G8 and BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China).
Despite the positive results from 2006, the study indicates that Brazil is one of the three countries showed a decline in the number of startups between 2009 and 2010. During this period, the national result was -0.7% versus -7.8% of the U.S. and -33.8% of Estonia.
The economies with the biggest increase in the number of startups between 2009 and 2010 were Dubai, United Arab Emirates (53.1%), Russia (22%) and China (20.8%).

The study also shows that the sum of the economies of the BRIC group of four members who entered the study created 18% more new business per year between 2006 and 2010, compared to 0.4% of the remaining countries.
But between 2009 and 2010, the creation of startups between Brazil, Russia, India and China grew 18%, against 3.3% of the other country.

The president of UHY, John Wolfgang, considers ‘impressive’ the difference between developed and emerging economies.

For him, the government can do more to encourage the creation of startups. ‘Many of the respondents in our study emphasized high labor taxes and complex regulations as barriers to growth for small businesses, “he says.

“Brazil has created a number of facilitators for micro-enterprises, as the single tax system and the ability to spread the payment of taxes. This makes companies able to last longer, “said Moreira.

He says, however, that there remain some significant barriers to the sector in the country, the main one being the excess of regulators, which, according to the consultant, impose excessive inspections and create unnecessary bureaucracy for entrepreneurs.

‘Spider’ says ready to confront the U.S.fighter and says: ‘I don’t like him’

Anderson Silva finally publicly accepted the fight with the rival Chael Sonnen. However, the middleweight champion imposed one condition: that the fight happens in Brazil.
In an interview with “SB Nation” website given during his participation as a pilot of the pace car in a NASCAR race in Phoenix, the “Spider” said the long awaited rematch has not been set, and will not happen at UFC 143 in the weekend of the Super Bowl, as Sonnen asked. However, he suggested that the rival will get the opportunity to challenge him if he comes to Brazil.

- I do not like this guy. This guy (want) to fight me? Go to Brazil. No problem … Chael talk too much. I am ready to face Chael. But if you want the chance go to Brazil – said Anderson.
The rematch between the two is expected since August last year, when Anderson defeated his rival with a submission in the final round, after being dominated for most of the fight. Since then, Sonnen has launched provocations and challenges, often crossing the line – on one occasion, said that he’d invade Anderson’s home and give a slap on the butt of his wife. Last week Chael also said he’d use Palmeiras’ jersey in the fight since “Spider” now represents Corinthians. Last week, UFC’s President Dana White, insisted that the rematch will happen, although that needs time and place.

Another problem appear when a photo on the internet with Sonnen and Ed Soares, Anderson’s manager side by side in a relaxed atmosphere, it was speculated that the Brazilian would fire his manager.
When “SB Nation” asked, Anderson said he was really nervous about the situation, although he’ll still be his manager after the incident.
- It’s a problem. I do not like the picture, not like how my manger acted. That’s a big problem – Anderson said.

The motion-sensor plug-in for the Xbox 360 turns the gamer into the controller; the game is directed by the body movements of the users themselves. At the center of the task sat Alex Kipman, who led Kinect to market from its formative days as Project Natal, named after Kipman’s hometown in Brazil. Kipman didn’t want to catch up with Nintendo’s Wii, he wanted to bound over it — and so they did, selling 1 million units in the first 10 days after Kinect’s release alone.

Creating a device that turns anyone into a human game controller for the Xbox began with one surprising task, says Alex Kipman: “I had to get wicked, wicked smart people to assume stupidity from day one.” The Brazilian-born director of incubation and his team needed to account for the near-infinite ways (“10 to the 23rd,” he estimates) that people look, speak, and move.

Since its release in November, Kinect — which consists of a depth sensor, microphones, and a motion camera tracking 20 points on the body in three-dimensional space–has inspired not only sales (some 10 million units) but also excitement among tinkerers who will soon have a Kinect software-development kit to advance their pet projects in, say, robotics or 3-D mapping. “This is a new era,” says Kipman, “and it’s going to require a ton of pioneering, a ton of innovation, and a ton of incubation. That’s not going to happen all within Microsoft.”

Eduardo Saverin

Co-founder of Facebook

He is a Brazilian American entrepreneur and business manager. He is best known for co-founding Facebook, along with Mark Zuckerberg, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes. He is reported to have a 5% stake in the company, worth about US$2.5 billion as of January, 2011.

During his junior year at Harvard University, Saverin met fellow Harvard classmate sophomore Mark Zuckerberg. Noting the lack of a dedicated social networking website for Harvard students, the two worked together to launch The Facebook. As co-founder, Saverin held the role of CFO and business manager. As Facebook rapidly expanded to universities across the US, internal conflicts and differences of opinion between Saverin and Zuckerberg arose. The following summer, as Saverin was staying in New York (where he worked briefly as an intern at Lehman Brothers), The Facebook relocated operations to California, having already attracted interest as a fast-growing Silicon Valley start-up.

Before everyone expected, most of the western hemisphere will be able to use Netflix service to watch movies instantly from a computer, TV or devices with internet available. This time you won’t need proxies or other type of work around.

Until the end of the year Netflix will start serving 43 countries in South and Central America. Caribeean is one of the supported places as well. They also will finish their expaion by streaming media to the rest of Mexico.

It’s still a mystery when people from Brazil e Trinidad will be able to sign up for their services and how much it will cost. One thing is certain though, when Netflix reach a country all of the rental video places died. An example is Block buster that had to change their strategy in order to stay in business.

While the “main’ competitor Hulu is trying to close deals with Miramax and Criterion Collection, Netflix is building a glogal empire.

I might be going over my head but I think at some point in the future Netflix and Hulu will merge or one of them is going to buy the other one. Let’s way to see!

Everyone knows that flying is the safest way to travel. Still, if you’re the kind of person who does not enter a plane even if you were tied up, your fate is to face long and painful journeys by bus or several hours behind the wheel of a car, in case you need to go around the country. And what is even worse: if you have the dream to see Europe or the USA, about ten hours of flight would become in a few days on a cruise ship, your only option for longer destinations.

But at least for those who live in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo and is deathly afraid of plane, even though just need to stay within a 50 minutes, a new mode of transportation promises to revolutionize travel between the two major cities: the bullet train. The design of the immense work has already been approved and goes through phases of bidding. The auction service concession has been delayed a few times by changes in the announcement made by the National Transportation Agency (ANTT).

Bureaucracy aside, you know how the bullet train will work?

Budgeted at R $ 33.1 billion, it will cover 510km between the International Airport Tom Jobim in Rio de Janeiro and Viracopos International Airport, in Campinas, passing also through the city of São Paulo.

According to the edict, the maximum amount that may be charged for economy class passengers will be R$ 0.49 per km. Thus, the limit price of passage between Rio and Sao Paulo, for example, will be at R$ 200.

Excerpt from the high speed train will travel (Image: Wikipedia)

Despite hitting ANTT firm in economics, so that the passage does not pass the U.S. $ 0.49 per km, the technology eases the writing that you will use the bullet train. The requirement is that it has technical conditions to achieve speeds above 300km/h, which will make the connection between the City and Marvelous Land of Drizzle, which lasts more than 5 hours by driving in the Via Dutra, be done in just 90 minutes.

And there are two types of technology: the MagLev system, which works on magnetic levitation, and the common rail system, but with some differences that make the greater capacity of the train.

How will be the rails and wheels?

In levitation, are used rails and steel wheels, and by means of magnets, the bullet train runs almost as if levitating above the track, which greatly increases its speed compared to regular trains, for there is no friction to hinder. A field is generated to stop the vehicle and a second magnetic field is generated to propel it at speeds that can reach 350km/h.

In another system, an evolution of regular trains, the implementation is more expensive than the MagLev system, despite the high costs required to make a straighter path and no hair-pin bends – which implies the construction of tunnels and bridges. No curves, the entire system gains in stability, which removes the risk of derailment. In addition, the manufacture of rails is done continuously, seamlessly, so that the journey is more comfortable for the passenger and faster than regular trains.

In both systems, the “fuel” for the trains is electricity . In the levitation, it is necessary to generate magnetic fields. In the evolution of regular trains, energy feeds the trip through high voltage cables hanging over the cars or a third rail, similar to what exists to move the subway.

The UFC confirmed today that the Brazilian Anderson Silva, the UFC middleweight champion, will face his number one challenger Yushin Okami in Rio de Janeiro, UFC 134 on Aug. 27 2011. Dana White, UFC president, also announced four other fights that will take place at the Arena Bar, all involving Brazilian fighters.

The ninth title defense of Anderson the “Spider” Silva was already being speculated as part of the event since announcing the return of UFC to Brazil. The opponent will be the last man who defeated him in battle: the Japanese Okami won the fight against Anderson Silva on January 20, 2006, in the event ROTR – Rumble on the Rock. The defeat was controversial – Anderson dominated the fight, but he struck the opponent with a kick to the face while he was in the guard position, which by the rules of the event was prohibited and resulted in Anderson Silva disqualification.

In addition to Anderson Silva, Edson Barbosa, undefeated in eight fights in the UFC, has agreed verbally to face the British Ross Pearson, winner of MMA reality show “The Ultimate Fighter,”. Another great fight in the the UFC 134 is the rematch of Mauricio “Shogun” Rua against Forrest Griffin, who beat him in his UFC debut in 2007.

- These two former world champions always go with everything and this may be one of the most exciting fights of the year – said White about Shogun x Griffin fight.

Other Brazilians who will be on the card are lightweight Thiago Tavares, who faces Spencer Fisher, and Luis “Banha” Cane, which faces the undefeated Stanislav Nedkov in the category up to 205lbs.
