France Grand Prix - Magny-Cours
The victory of Felipe Massa at the French GP, held this Sunday, broke a long fasting of Brazil in Formula 1. With the victory in Magny-Cours, the Brazilian driver of Ferrari came to 48 points and took the lead in Formula 1.
The last time a Brazilian took over the leadership in Formula 1 was in May 23, 1993, with Ayrton Senna. On that occasion the three times world champion won for the sixth and last time the GP of Monaco with McLaren’s car.
However, the Brazilian driver wasn’t at the time with the best equipment and lost the lead of the competition in the next stage in Canada (June 13 of that year). Senna had to be happy at the end of that year with the vice championship.
After Senna, the Brazilian who came back to get closer to fight for top positions was Rubens Barrichello, during its passage to Ferrari (2000 to 2005), but the driver was not able at any time disturb the ex-partner, Michael Schumacher.
The best results of the current driver of Honda were two vice championships - 2002 and 2004. Barrichello is the holder of the title to have had participate in
Felipe Massa still has ten GPs to maintain or try to enlarge the gap to break another fasting. Since 1991, when Ayrton Senna won the champioship Brazil is not a world champion in F-1.

He drove a brilliant race, And has proved to Ferrari that he should be their number 1 driver. Congratulations to you and all of brazil. He is one fantastic driver and future world champion.

I’m glad you agree that Felipe Massa should be the number 1 driver.
I think what really motivated Massa was the comments made by Michael Schumacher after the second race. He said that Massa is an excellent driver and would fight for 2008 title.
