On October 2nd 2007 I posted an article at SSP Forum SlideShowPro for Flash: Show and Tell about Scrollbar v1.0, this project was about a scrollbar for SSP, it was very acceptable and many people sent me emails with the intention to buy the code, that was my first plan but I thought it through and I decided to give away the code of Scrollbar v1.0 and v2.0 for future improvements.
This project was created after analyzed and combined the code of some examples SSP team post on the website. My intention wasn’t to plagiarize but to improve the code for a better user experience.
I’m very busy now developing many projects at the same time and unfortunately I won’t be able to answer emails about this project anymore, that’s why I’m giving it away. I hope someone can improve it and share with the SSP community.
I hope this time Todd Dominey put me on the news.
I still working in some other projects for SSP, maybe before June this year I’ll release my project called search SSP v1.0 where it searches for specific pictures and return in a new SSP instance.
I’m using lightbox to open up the examples, sometimes it goes crazy and open the .swf file in another page, but don’t worry that’s ok (I can’t explain why computer goes crazy sometimes). If the close button don’t appear click outside the image to close it. (I’m using Windows XP w/ resolution 1280×1024).
Examples of scrollbar for SSP in action:
1. Scrollbar w/ 3 columns - (This example uses arrows to move the scrollbar) - This was my first attempt to get something friendlier for user experience with SSP scrollbar, it also has combo box on top and 3 columns.
Software used » SSP 1.5.2 and Director 1.0.9.9
In the examples below when it reaches the last picture it comes back up. And it shows the title and the caption of the picture.
2. Scrollbar v 1.0 -
» Control with mouse | Control with arrows «
Software used » SSP 1.5.3 and Director 1.0.9.9
3. Scrollbar 2.0 - (This example uses arrow to move the scrollbar) - Also in this example I was able to use the best feature of Director in my opinion, Smart cropping, for the first time. After I sent so many emails to Todd he listened to my request.
Software used » SSP 1.6.0c1 and Director 1.1.4
After you download the .FLA remember to change the XML File Path to make it work.
The code isn’t clean because I didn’t have time to clean the unnecessary comments. I’m sorry about that I hope who else get it with the intention to improve it does better then me.
