The polemics of referrals, the spectacle of rivalry in the field and the suffering of the Brazilian soccer lovers so often narrated by sport chroniclers will be replace by tricks made to the sound of hip hop in this Tuesday, 18, in Sao Paulo.

Maybe some more traditional fanatics are offended, but the city will host a soccer tournament in which there is not even the most awaited moment of sports, the goal. The final stage of the world’s first free style soccer, the “Red Bull Street Style,” brought to the capital players from 44 countries for a competition that requires creativity and skill with a football.

The new method is an evolving technique of football which wins the participant who best to convince a committee of judges with a combination of maneuvers and tricks with the ball. Each dispute case in a circular arena where two athletes alternate shifts of 20 seconds of the ball field until the end of the countdown of three minutes. The criteria that define the winner is art, creativity and style.

The only Brazilian representative in the competition is the capixaba Murilo Pitol, 17 years old. Fan of Vasco Futebol clube, he began practicing in the sport in 2006 after seeing a video of the sport on the Internet. The traditional soccer fan and already skilled with the ball, the teenager decided to try to repeat the training maneuvers of the video. “It took six months to get the first tricks,” says.

This Monday, 17, Murilo won five disputes in the qualification stage against the representatives of Croatia, South Africa, Greece and Argentina and is assured between the 16 finalists in the competition. The Brazilian came first in the group, which also the South African Christopher Nsokwana finished in second place.

The jury of the competition will be formed by halfback Dutchman Edgar Davids, the former forward Bebeto and Falcon, the best Futsal player of the world, and dancer from New York break dance, Crazy Legs. A fifth vote will be set by athletes declassified and will refer to better maneuver.
