The number of newly established companies, known as startups, grew faster in Brazil than in China and India in the period 2006 to 2010, says a study by consulting firm. According to research from UHY, network consultancy based in London, the number of startups in Brazil increased on average 7.2% per year between 2006 and 2010.
In a ranking of 19 countries where it operates consulting, Brazil is in fourth place behind Russia (annual increase of 25.6%), France (21.5%) and Estonia (9.1%).

More than 617 000 startups were registered in Brazil in 2010 from 467,000 four years earlier. The sectors where growth was higher, according to the study, were the services and family farming.
The worst results are with Spain in this period (down 14.6%), Ireland (-7.6%), United States (-6.7%) and Japan (-6.2%).
In Spain, for example, 76,622 companies were created in 2010 from 143,859 in 2006.

Among the countries surveyed are members of the four members of the G8 and BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China).
Despite the positive results from 2006, the study indicates that Brazil is one of the three countries showed a decline in the number of startups between 2009 and 2010. During this period, the national result was -0.7% versus -7.8% of the U.S. and -33.8% of Estonia.
The economies with the biggest increase in the number of startups between 2009 and 2010 were Dubai, United Arab Emirates (53.1%), Russia (22%) and China (20.8%).

The study also shows that the sum of the economies of the BRIC group of four members who entered the study created 18% more new business per year between 2006 and 2010, compared to 0.4% of the remaining countries.
But between 2009 and 2010, the creation of startups between Brazil, Russia, India and China grew 18%, against 3.3% of the other country.

The president of UHY, John Wolfgang, considers ‘impressive’ the difference between developed and emerging economies.

For him, the government can do more to encourage the creation of startups. ‘Many of the respondents in our study emphasized high labor taxes and complex regulations as barriers to growth for small businesses, “he says.

“Brazil has created a number of facilitators for micro-enterprises, as the single tax system and the ability to spread the payment of taxes. This makes companies able to last longer, “said Moreira.

He says, however, that there remain some significant barriers to the sector in the country, the main one being the excess of regulators, which, according to the consultant, impose excessive inspections and create unnecessary bureaucracy for entrepreneurs.

Anderson Silva accepts fight with Chael Sonnen, but it has to be in in Brazil.
‘Spider’ says ready to confront the U.S.fighter and says: ‘I don’t like him’

Anderson Silva finally publicly accepted the fight with the rival Chael Sonnen. However, the middleweight champion imposed one condition: that the fight happens in Brazil.
In an interview with “SB Nation” website given during his participation as a pilot of the pace car in a NASCAR race in Phoenix, the “Spider” said the long awaited rematch has not been set, and will not happen at UFC 143 in the weekend of the Super Bowl, as Sonnen asked. However, he suggested that the rival will get the opportunity to challenge him if he comes to Brazil.

- I do not like this guy. This guy (want) to fight me? Go to Brazil. No problem … Chael talk too much. I am ready to face Chael. But if you want the chance go to Brazil – said Anderson.
The rematch between the two is expected since August last year, when Anderson defeated his rival with a submission in the final round, after being dominated for most of the fight. Since then, Sonnen has launched provocations and challenges, often crossing the line – on one occasion, said that he’d invade Anderson’s home and give a slap on the butt of his wife. Last week Chael also said he’d use Palmeiras’ jersey in the fight since “Spider” now represents Corinthians. Last week, UFC’s President Dana White, insisted that the rematch will happen, although that needs time and place.

Another problem appear when a photo on the internet with Sonnen and Ed Soares, Anderson’s manager side by side in a relaxed atmosphere, it was speculated that the Brazilian would fire his manager.
When “SB Nation” asked, Anderson said he was really nervous about the situation, although he’ll still be his manager after the incident.
- It’s a problem. I do not like the picture, not like how my manger acted. That’s a big problem – Anderson said.

Brazil’s President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva refuted on Tuesday the criticisms made to the organization of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, which is to take place in the country.

According to the president, some think that Brazilians are ” idiots” and do not know how to make the necessary improvements for the tournament.

“The African Cup has just ended and they have already started asking ‘where are the Brazilian airports?’, where are the Brazilian bus lanes?,” the president said, not elaborating on who “they” are.

“As if we were a bunch of idiots who do not know how to make things, how to define our priorities.”

The pressure for Brazil to make the necessary projects to host the next World Cup has increased in the past month, due to the proximity of the tournament, the fact that many reforms necessary to the Cup have yet to start, and to the problems with airports seen in South Africa.

President Lula also commented on the Rio-Sao Paulo bullet train project. According to the president, the train will be ready by 2016 when Rio will host the Olympic Games. He stressed the importance of the project and the difficulties to make the bullet train possible.

“I think Brazil needs it (the train) and I think that Rio and Sao Paulo need it because they are the most important cities in Brazil,” he said

The public bidding process for the bullet train’s construction will take place in mid-December.

A hat-trick by Nilmar helped Brazil keep top of the South American World Cup qualifying zone with victory over Chile.

Despite having midfielder Felipe Melo sent off in the opening minutes of the second half and seeing Chile manage to overcome a two-goal deficit at one point, Brazil managed to win after they had already clinched the qualification with a 3-1 win at Argentina last weekend.

Chile also had one player dismissed as talented forward Alexis Sanchez was also shown red in the second period.

Brazil needed nine minutes to take a two-goal lead. In the 31st minute Daniel Alves crossed the ball to Adriano and Nilmar was quickest to slide in and score.

In the 40th minute, after a terrible mistake by Gonzalo Jara, Nilmar passed the ball to Alves, who assisted Julio Baptista to widen the gap.

However, with half-time was approaching, Felipe Melo fouled Sanchez in the box. Humberto Suazo fired home from the spot to reduce the deficit.

Felipe Melo was sent off for a tough foul on Sanchez four minutes after the interval. Three minutes later, Jean Beausejour crossed the ball from the left to Suazo, who equalised with a volley.

Chile boss Marcelo Bielsa decided to take Suazo off for Jorge Valdivia at the 68th and Chile lost attacking power.

Despite playing with one man less and being dominated by Chile, the five-time World Cup winners proved why they are the best team in the region by scoring twice in two minutes.

In the 74th, Nilmar headed a Dani Alves cross from the right home. A minute later, Gilberto Silva crossed the ball to Maicon and when his shot was saved by Omar Bravo, Nilmar connected to make it 4-2.

Only 60 seconds after Brazil’s fourth goal, Sanchez was shown red for protesting.

Chile never approached Brazil keeper Julio Cesar again and the scoring was no longer changed.

While Brazil are already through to the finals, Chile stay on 27 points and need only one more to secure qualification.

The Brazilian stormed to a world record time of 46.91 to stun Olympic champion Alain Bernard, who came in second ahead of compatriot Frederick Bousquet.

“I saw Bernard in the last 25. I was hurting a lot but I thought he was hurting too because he wasn’t catching me,” Cielo Filho told reporters after beating the absent Eamon Sullivan’s Beijing Olympic mark of 47.05.

“I think the first 50 metres was the key to the race. I think today was just my lucky day.”

It was a bitter moment for Bernard, who had breached the 47 second mark at the French championships in April but his time was not ratified because his hi-tech swimsuit was not approved.

Polyurethane suits will be banned from next year after controversy over the scores of world records they have prompted, seven being shattered on Thursday to bring the total number for the championships to a staggering 29.

The worlds, which end on Sunday, will stand out in the swimming annals with many wanting asterisks to be put by records set in the suits, knowing they could take years to break when the sport returns to mere textile costumes.

A last-gasp Kaka penalty snatched Brazil a 4-3 victory over a courageous Egypt in an exhilarating Group B opener at Free State Stadium. Dunga’s side carried a two-goal cushion in at the break, but a quick-fire double had the Pharaohs level until the former FIFA World Player’s second goal of the game injury time.

It took Brazil just five minutes to break the deadlock. There appeared to be little danger when Daniel Alves’s dink found Kaka inside a congested penalty area, but the No10 subtly tricked his way past two opponents before casually sliding the ball home.

Egypt responded swiftly, with Mohamed Aboutrika’s right-wing cross being headed in by Mohamed Zidan, but they fell behind again on 12 minutes, when Luis Fabiano’s head guided an Elano free-kick into the bottom corner of the net.

Elano and Juan both came close to doubling A Seleção’s lead, before the latter did just that by heading home the former’s corner in the 37th minute.

Egypt refused to submit to their more illustrious opponents, though, and scored twice in two minutes to restore parity, Mohamed Shawky’s firm, low drive from the edge of the box preceding a 55th-minute strike from Zidan.

Both sides then had their chances, but the game appeared destined for a 3-3 draw. That was until goal-bound Lucio effort was handled on the line by Ahmed Al Muhamadi. The Egypitan defender was sent off, and Kaka coolly passed the ball into the bottom corner of Essam El Hadary’s net to ensure Dunga’s side made a wininng start to the defence of their crown.

“I have to say that Brazil is the home of the most beatiful people in the world. Work with Felipe help the day go faster”, said Jessica Alba.

In one of the scenes, Jessica spill “deliberately” Campari, known for its red color, on Felipe’s white shirt. “It was definitely the funniest scene we did it”, said Jessica.

The refinery should start operating in 2010 and has an annual capacity of 250k tons, according to a shareholder. The rest of the raw material will come from Portugal, and can be soybean, rapeseed and palm.

Operation

The consortium, known as GreenCyber is owned by Hagen construction, of individual investors and the bank EFISA.

The refinery will be built at the port of Sines, south of Portugal, where the biodiesel can be exported and with easy access to roads and railways that connect the country to Spain.

The refinery will try to take advantage of the government’s objective to reduce dependence on oil, in addition to reach the target of a mixture of 10% in diesel by 2010, or 600k tons per year.

Extension

Acording to the investor Pedro Sampaio Nunes, the refinery could easily expand the capacity. “Our facility allows us to easily triple our capacity, which I believe will happen in the next 10 years,” he said.

Portugal currently has four refineries to produce biodiesel, producing a total of 500k tons per year.
