After one year without a victory the legend Wanderlei Silva is back. With a very impressive victory against Keith Jardine he’s talking about to have a change to go to the title.
“I’m very emotional now and it’s a great moment for me,” said Silva, who lost to Chuck Liddell in his return to the UFC last December. “I’m very happy.”
With the win, Silva ups his record to 32-8-1; Jardine falls to 13-5-1.
The Dragon Lyoto Machida had a difficult fight against Tito Ortiz, the fight was very boring from the begin. Tito couldn’t figure out the way to win the fight and let Machida keep distance all the time. The last round the fight heated up a little bit when Machida hit Tito with his knee and they went to the ground, 30 seconds left to end of the fight Tito was able to get Machida in a choke triangle and almost end the fight.
“I thought I had him for a second,” said Ortiz, who is mainly known for his ground and pound, not his jiu-jitsu game. “I have submissions but I never used them before.”
“It was a big surprise for me,” admitted Machida, “I was thinking, I’m gonna die, but I’m not gonna tap.”
Unbeaten light heavyweight contender Thiago Silva made it to 13 the hard way, rising from an early knockdown to force newcomer Antonio ‘Samuray’ Mendes to tap out due to strikes in the first round.
“He was stronger than I expected, but I trained real hard and was able to come back,” said Silva, now 13-0.
The only Brazilian fighter who lost was Wilson Gouveia. He had the chance to finish the fight but Goran Reljic was better tonight and won the fight.

It’s good to see o Cachorro Louco Wanderlei Silva back - I actually thought he was finished, he didn’t seem to have the drive, the fire in his eyes and the killer instinct he once had. Maybe he’ll now return to his former self and give us some good performances.
He is still a little small for the division, though. I wonder if he could go down to 185 and do better there. Anyhow, I was glad to see him win that fight.
